How to tell if a sliding door track is damaged.
Rollers and tracks fail differently. Knowing which you're looking at points straight to the fix.

Signs of track damage
- Catching or grinding at one point along the slide, not evenly.
- A visibly bent, dented, or wavy track lip.
- Pitting, rust, or a rough, flaking surface.
- Water pooling in the channel that won't drain.
- Brand-new rollers that wear out unusually fast.
Track vs. roller problems
If the door is heavy the whole way, suspect rollers. If it catches at a specific spot or you can see damage in the channel, suspect the track. Often it's both — a worn roller drops the panel, which then scores the track.
How to check it
Vacuum the track and wipe it clean, then run a finger (carefully) along the channel to feel for burrs, pitting, or a bent lip. Look for a bright scratch line where the panel has been dragging. Shine a light along the length to spot waviness.
What the fix looks like
Depending on severity: clean and reshape, install a stainless track cap, or replace the track section. Minor bends can be reshaped; corroded-through tracks are replaced.
