When glass needs replacing

• A cracked or chipped pane (it will spread — replace it)
• Shattered or broken glass (a safety and security emergency)
• Foggy or cloudy glass from a failed insulated-glass seal
• Scratched or pitted glass from years of salt and sand

Types of glass we fit

Sliding doors use safety glass. We replace with the correct type for your door — tempered single-pane, insulated (dual-pane) units for energy efficiency, or impact/hurricane glass where required by code or exposure. We confirm the spec before ordering.

The process

1. Measure the opening and identify the glass type
2. Order the correct panel to spec (glass is made to size)
3. Safely remove the old/broken glass
4. Fit and seal the new panel and re-hang the door
5. Check the slide and lock

Repair or replace?

Glass itself is replaced, not repaired — but that doesn't mean a new door. In nearly all cases we reuse the existing frame and hardware and only swap the glass, which keeps the cost far below a full door.

Cost & timing

Glass is a made-to-order item, so these jobs involve an ordering lead time. Cost depends on size, glass type (impact glass costs more), and panel count. Emergencies with broken glass can be boarded/secured quickly while the replacement is ordered.

Coastal note

Failed seals and pitting show up faster near the coast. If one panel's seal has gone, others of the same age often follow — worth checking together.
