Sliding door track repair & replacement.
A damaged bottom track will chew through new rollers in months. We clean, reshape, cap, or replace the track so the fix actually lasts.
Signs the track is the problem
- Grinding or catching at a specific point, not the whole slide
- A visibly bent, dented, or wavy track lip
- Pitting, rust, or a rough, flaking surface
- New rollers that wear out unusually fast
- Water pooling in the track that won't drain
Why tracks fail in Florida
The bottom track takes the panel's full weight and collects everything that blows in โ salt, sand, grit. That abrasive mix, plus standing water and humidity, pits and corrodes the aluminum. Once the surface is rough, rollers can't ride cleanly.
Repair options
- Clean & reshape: for minor bends and buildup, we straighten the lip and clear the channel
- Track cap: a stainless-steel cap installed over a worn track gives rollers a smooth new surface without full replacement
- Replacement: when the track is corroded through or badly bent, we replace the section
How we decide
We inspect the full length, check how the rollers ride, and confirm drainage. Often a cap plus new rollers restores the door for far less than replacing the track โ we recommend the least-invasive fix that will hold.
Cost, time & safety
Cleaning and reshaping is quick; caps and replacements take longer and depend on track type and length. Track work usually means lifting the heavy panel, so it's not a safe DIY job.
Keep it from coming back
Regular track cleaning slows this down โ see how to clean a track properly and what causes track corrosion in Florida.
