Common screen door issues

Repair options

1. Rescreen: old mesh out, new mesh in — standard, solar (shade-reducing), or pet-resistant
2. Roller replacement: new screen rollers so it glides again
3. Frame repair: straighten a racked frame or rebuild it if it's beyond truing
4. Full replacement: a made-to-measure new screen door when the frame is too far gone

Pet-resistant & solar mesh

If a dog or cat keeps pushing through, heavier pet-resistant mesh holds up far better than standard screen. Solar mesh cuts glare and heat on sun-facing lanais — useful in the Florida afternoon.

Repair or replace the screen?

Rescreening and roller swaps are cheap and quick, so repair almost always wins. A brand-new screen door is only needed when the frame is bent beyond truing.

Screen work is among the most affordable repairs we do and is often same-visit. Salt and sun degrade mesh and rollers faster near the coast, so screens on beachfront lanais need attention more often.
