Signs of frame trouble

• Water leaking in at the sill during rain
• Drafts or bugs getting past the closed door
• Corroded, chalky, or pitted aluminum frame
• Worn or missing weatherstripping and fin seals
• A damaged interlock (where the panels meet) that won't seal

Why frames fail here

Aluminum frames corrode under constant salt air and humidity, especially at the bottom sill where water sits. Weatherstripping hardens and shrinks in the Florida sun. Once the seal breaks down, you get leaks, drafts, and faster wear everywhere else on the door.

What we repair

1. Clean and treat corroded frame and sill surfaces
2. Replace weatherstripping, fin seals, and interlock seals
3. Repair or cap a damaged sill/track the panel rides on
4. Correct drainage (weep holes) so water exits instead of pooling

Repair or replace?

Most frame issues are repairs — reseal, re-weatherstrip, cap the sill. Full frame/door replacement is only needed when the frame is corroded through structurally. We'll tell you which applies after inspecting.

Cost, time & coastal note

Cost depends on the extent of corrosion and which seals and sections need work. Sill and weatherstrip repairs are common on older coastal doors and go a long way toward stopping leaks and drafts.
