Why does my sliding door feel heavy?
The door didn't gain weight. It stopped rolling. That distinction is the whole diagnosis.

What 'heavy' really means
The panel weighs the same as the day it was installed. What changed is the rollers: when the bearings wear or seize, the wheels stop spinning and the panel drags across the track. Your muscles feel that drag as weight.
Why it happens faster here
In coastal St. Augustine, salt air corrodes the roller bearings and sand grinds them down, so doors get heavy years sooner than inland. It's the most common sliding-door complaint we hear — more in how salt air damages coastal doors.
The fix
Clean the track first — sometimes packed sand is the whole problem. If it's still heavy, the rollers are worn and need replacing. Once new rollers go in, the door floats again.
